The move to New York played a great role in Jack's interest in the weather. Youngstown is located very close to Lake Ontario and he had the pleasure of witnessing some incredible lake effect snow and rain events. This interest in the weather, coupled with an interest in maps and geography made Jack a natural meteorologist. At the age of 10, Jack gave his first weather report to WKBW-TV in Buffalo, a current AccuWeather client.

After graduating from Suffern High School in 1975, Jack moved back out west to Corvallis to attend Oregon State University. Becoming home sick after a year, Jack headed closer to home and attended The State University of New York at Albany where he graduated in 1980 with a B.S. in Meteorology.

Jack began his career while in college at Albany working as a part time writer for a weather newspaper and broadcasting local weather on the radio. While in Albany Jack also interned at the National Weather Service and anchored TV weather for WTEN. Upon graduation, Jack worked at WeatherData, a private weather service in Wichita, KS. From there, Jack moved to Compuweather in New York City. After a year and a half, Jack left for the Midwest where he would work at TV stations in Milwaukee and Green Bay for the next fifteen years. In 1999, Jack joined AccuWeather as a broadcast meteorologist.

In 1987 while working in Milwaukee and Green Bay, Jack won the American Meteorological Society Broadcast Seal of Approval and the Milwaukee Press Club Award for his outstanding coverage during the blizzard of '87. In 1993 he won the Kavouras Graphics Award.

Jack is married to wife Karen and has four children, Seth, 18, Katie, 17, Heather, 14 and Matthew, 11. During his free time Jack likes to sing and play guitar in the band he formed. Jack is also an avid golfer and is currently a member of the Elks Golf Club in Boalsburg, PA. He also enjoys hiking in the outdoors, playing board games and participating in various church activities.
