Radio has been Bob Johnson's "mistress" since the late '50's, and unbiased reporting of the news has been his passion since Bill Clinton's presidency. A former air personality, award-winning broadcast account executive at Cincinnati's WLW, sales manager and general manager, Bob is (was) a singer of note [pun intended] beginning in the early '60's. Prior to the Cincinnati years Bob spent time on the air in markets like Louisville, Kentucky and Columbus, Ohio, among others.
His first move to Orlando came in 1973, and he returned, making Central Florida his permanent home, in 1984. Bob's Orlando radio connections included managerial duties at WHOO/WHOO-FM (now our Cox affiliate WHTQ), the short-lived WGTO (We've Got The Oldies) and time spent with Joy 108 (Now Magic 107.7), among others.
Married to his bride, Donna, for more than 43 years, Bob is the father of four, and has six grandchildren. He has anchored the Newstalk AM 580 WDBO news desk Saturday mornings since February, 1997 and was awarded the Florida Associated Press News award for best series feature in 2000 for his piece on the memorial service for golfer Payne Stewart.
Bob will be there with the latest happenings Saturdays from 6:00AM through Noon... depend on it!
