I was born and raised in Venezuela and I was hardly ever proud of it. Until Chavez came to power. And now you have his image next to Bin Laden on those huge boards along the freeway. That's an insult and absolutely irrational.
The main reason the man has won every one of our presidential elections is because the two parties that were in power in Venezuela before him were extremely corrupt. No better example of this than the fact that during the 30 years these two parties alternated in power, Venezuela made in oil revenues around 20 to 25 times the amount of money the U.S. spent on the Marshall Plan, to help reconstruct Europe after World War Two. And what do we have to show for it? {expletive} That's what.
A few years before Chavez won his first election, the directors of Banco Latino, the second biggest bank in Venezuela, decided to take all the money in the bank for themselves and leave the country. 1.5 million Venezuelans were left without a penny in their name. Do you have any idea of what's going on in Venezuela and why?
I just cannot believe how easy it is for the U.S. government to choose an enemy and have the entire country's media go along with it! It's truly amazing to see this kind of spectacle happening in a country like the U.S., and it's a shame you're part of it.
Please reconsider having Chavez on those advertising boards. Thank you.
