Florida's Teacher of the Year is disappointed.
You might see some Orange County teachers with umbrellas this afternoon at the Lake Eola bandshell.
They're trying to bring attention to the state budget crisis.
Those cuts are impacting all the districts in the Orlando area, and Florida's Teacher of the Year is concerned.
"What we're talking about is the kind of impacts that will impact the success of students."

Richard Ellenberg is a Camelot Elementary science teacher.
"I'm not really sure how in the world we're going to have businesses or industries that would come to this state when they see how we value education."

Teachers want the state legislature to raid the rainy day fund so Orange County schools, for example, won't have to cut $70 million dollars from the budget and eliminate hundreds of jobs from teachers to custodians and even administrators.

Should school funding be cut by the state legislature? Comment below.
