All of the global warming doomsayers are behind the curve. More recent science suggests that sunspot activity has more to do with global warming than man's activities - see http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=293843193434228 and http://www.spaceweather.com/. Indeed these more recent studies suggest that we are out of a global warming period and going into a cooling trend. Please note that China just had the worst winter in more than a century. Quebec had their worst winter in decades. One should do some research and not buy hook line and sinker the arguments of those who stand to gain by global warming hysteria (indlucing Al Gore, who chairs a company that sells carbon credits).

I don't have a problem with students watching this movie, if they are taught to think about what they are watching. I agree with other comments here that we need to teach our kids how to think more critically and use deductive reasoning more. Although I don't necessarily agree with Al Gore's movie, I think that it may be a useful tool to help our kids think about the world in which we live and the effects of our consumerism. I also think another movie that could possibly be shown to high school students is Ben Stein's movie, Expelled, which talks about intelligent design versus evolution. Again, lets teach our kids how to critically think about the world around them and not accept everything at face value.

I applaud the teacher for showing the movie. It's a movie...a movie, for goodness sake....It's Earth Week. the children actually have a chance to think for a change. No child is harmed by watching a movie about global warming..good grief, get over it...let the teachers broaden the children's mind...If you want to get angry about the school system, let's rally together about how stupid our children are becoming because our wonderful teachers are forced to teach to the FCAT!

I am appalled by the negative comments made earlier in this thread.. They are so clearly political in tone and completely oblivious to the FACT that we are in a serious state of distress. This is not a political issue. This is a global environmental issue that can only be dealt with if the YOUNGER generation is made aware of it. I welcome this teacher showing this film, and I welcome the scientific and analytical viewpoints that are shown in this movie. Forget about who made it.. That makes zero difference. period. Oh and by the way its called "geography" class. Its a class where children and teachers discuss the land and the human and environmental impact on land. GEOGRAPHY! your generation has ignored these problems long enough and these things are most definitely worth discussing right now. and another thing.. This generation's oblivious mindset is what got us in this mess to begin with. Its clearly time to embrace the issues at hand and instead of bickering about who says what. Those concerns have no place here... most of your hero's have even recognized this... Get with it.

What numbers equal the number 4? You can ONLY get the answer by adding 2 + 2......welcome to our school system. Our children lose, and most of all our so called teachers are to blame for not teaching both sides, they are the REAL losers! My grandchildren are getting BOTH sides to any issue.

These kids are too young to be seeing this film. Can you say 'indoctrination?!' Politics don't belong in school, much less a teacher trying to push their views on innocent children!
