Experience Florida history through audio and visual presentations and hands-on exhibits. Travel back 12,000 years and enjoy the Timucuan Village, the Tin Can Tourist Camp, stand under the wing of a B-17 Bomber and many more fun activities. The History Center offers an array of informative exhibitions on three fun-packed floors. The History Center's permanent exhibitions are complemented by temporary exhibitions, special exhibits, and displays throughout the year. The History Center also makes traveling exhibitions available to other historical organizations across the nation. The History Center's educational programs are designed to spark imaginations and satisfy curiosity. From school field trips, summer and spring break camps to character cameos and birthday parties. The History Center makes learning fun for all ages. The Joseph L. Brechner Research Center documents the history of Central Florida through photographs, archives and books. The Joseph L. Brechner Research Center was established with a donation from Marion Brody Brechner in honor of her husband, a prominent journalist and founder of WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando. The Center holds the archival collection of The Historical Society of Central Florida, which has been collecting materials since 1942. The Research Center is located on the Fifth Floor of The History Center, and is free to the public. More than 12,000 photographs and postcards have been collected from the 1870s to the present document Orange County and Central Florida history. The photo archive collection of the Historical Society of Central Florida was established, and is maintained, through donations from hundreds of individuals and companies. These photos depict people, buildings, businesses, streets, hotels, banks, churches, historic homes, cities, and sports.
